On November 3, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan visited “Ayrum-Jiliza” checkpoint in Gegharkunik region of Armenia, the NEWS.am correspondent reported.

A total of 125 m AMD budget funds were allocated for construction of a new building with modern equipment and Internet. Works on railway passenger traffic and cargo transportation are carried out at Ayrum checkpoint.

Talking to the journalists, Hovik Abovyan, head of Gegharkunik office of State Revenue Committee, said that due to changes transportation of goods is done much faster, about 70 carriages with 400,000 tons of cargo are passing through a checkpoint daily.   

Armenian President intends to tour other checkpoints on the border a well.
