Turkish authorities once again blocked YouTube. The website was banned after scandalous videos insulting their national leader Kemal Ataturk were reposted, Reuters reported.

The Ankara court imposed a ban on YouTube. The decision was formally reasoned by YouTube administration’s refusal to remove scandalous video showing Deniz Baykal, former leader of Turkish opposition, in a bedroom with his lover. Earlier this year sex scandal caused Deniz Baykal’s resignation.

YouTube has been banned in Turkey for 30 months. Access was permitted on October 31, 2010 after video was removed by automatic system of copyright protection. The complaint was lodged by a certain German company but it became known that the initiator was Turkish Internet Board.

Turkish authorities have been repeatedly criticized by world community for strict information policy on the Internet. Presently over 4000 Internet addresses are blocked in the territory of Turkey.
