U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Marie L. Yovanovitch touched upon Karabakh peace process during her recent visit to U.S., 168 Zham newspaper reports.

According to her, the fact is generally admitted. Yovanovitch stressed the fair and long-term resolution to the conflict is impossible without involvement of Karabakh people. “I think Karabakh will join the negotiation process at some stage, but the issues should be agreed with all parties, including Azerbaijan. It is clear we have not yet reached that level.”

The Ambassador also referred to Kosovo’s precedent. According to her, a conflict should not serve an example for another conflict, as each of them is an exception in itself. As for the possible linkage of Karabakh conflict resolution to Armenia-Turkey normalization process, Yovanovitch emphasized the two issues should not be linked with each other.
