Washington’s foreign policy will not change after Republicans’ victory in the mid-term elections, as the White House, in the person of President Barack Obama, has a privilege of determining foreign political line, Georgian expert Alexander Rondeli told NEWS.am.

According to him, Washington will attach major importance to the South Caucasus, and Georgia in particular. “I do not think that victory of the Republicans will change anything in Washington-Tbilisi relations, as the White House is giving attention to financial and political assistance to Georgia,” he said.

Speaking of lifting visa regime between Iran and Georgia, Rondeli noted that it will hardly trigger Washington’s negative reaction, as U.S. is fully realizing that each country has right to develop relations with its neighbors. “I think that lifting visa regime with Iran will contribute to expansion of regional integration and cooperation. Meanwhile, without it the South Caucasus will turn into the Bermuda Triangle,” he concluded.
