The issue of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) faction deputy and businessman Garegin Nushikyan’s nomination is not certain yet.

“My nomination is not 100 percent yet. This is not certain for a number of reasons. Certain issues still have to be ascertained. The party should make a final decision”, Nushikyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

According to him, one of the obstacles is the change in the procedure, namely the rating (territorial) list, which enables nominating up to 15 persons from the same political force. This means that the struggle will take place between the candidates nominated from the same party.

“This is one of the reasons. Of course, there are issues which should be further clarified for the party itself,” the MP said.

According to the preliminary information, Hakob Beglaryan, the brother of the former Minister of Transport and Communication Gagik Beglaryan, will be nominated in the RPA candidate list in Kentron-Erebouni-Nork-Marash electoral district.  

Nushikyan noted that he has not been offered to join the RPA.

During the parliamentary elections in 2012, Garegin Nushikyan won the vote over Saribek Sukiasyan, the brother of SIL concern head Khachatur Sukiasyan by several hundred votes.
