The pressure on Nagorno-Karabakh peace process is increased every day. Following Astrakhan meeting, the statements by Russian President and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister testify that the international community makes considerable efforts to achieve a breakthrough on Karabakh at Astana Summit, December 1-2, Coordinator of Armenian National Congress (ANC) Levon Zurabyan told the reporters on Friday.

“At the moment the ruling régime has no key to oppose it. It appears that a month ago the authorities were stronger than they are today. Serzh Sargsyan administration is panic-stricken. This is nothing compared with what is to come, as more critical processes are expected in the future,” Zurabyan stressed.

Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov stated a road map on Karabakh is ready and will be signed in Astana.  I do not want to say it will be signed in Astana, but the statements suggest serious preparations are made for the Astana Summit and a pressure is exerted,” Zurabyan underscored.

As to the Heritage-initiated bill on the recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh, ANC representative said inadequate steps should not be made as they will damage the process.

“All the best must be done for Nagorno-Karabakh to become a full-fledged independent state, however the ruling regime convinced the world community Karabakh is its trailer,” he said.

In conclusion, Zurabyan said Karabakh conflict is fraught with grave consequences in terms of regional security.
