The Armenian people have never resolved problems by means of riots, Galust Sahakyan Vice-Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), told journalists, responding to a question about a possible riot before the parliamentary elections in Armenia.

The parliamentary forces are most likely to remain the same as “we are having now,” he said. “Processes within the Armenian National Congress [led by Levon Ter-Petrosyan] will develop before the parliamentary elections, which may enable them to get into Parliament. But I have grave doubts,” Sahakyan said.

Commenting on the Prosperous Armenia Party’s statement that they will get 50+1 votes in the forthcoming elections, Sahakyan said: “The Republican Party of Armenia is stating the same, and we will get the votes. All political forces participate in elections in order to win,” he said.

The parliamentary elections are to be held in Armenia in 2012.
