The ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) will propose the adoption of the bill on recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) by the Armenian Parliament only after all the diplomatic means have been exhausted, and the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process gets out of the OSCE Minsk Group, Galust Sahakyan Vice-Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), told journalists Nov. 5.
He believes the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process is progressing now, as the international community has changed its attitude to the principle of peoples’ self-determination. “Everybody understands that 80% of the states were formed due to this right.
Moreover, the principles of territorial integrity is has not so much been talked about lately. Even if the principle is mentioned, it is in the following context: the territory where a people exercises its right to self-determination becomes inviolable,” Shakyan said. He also pointed out that the international community has come to realize the problem is impossible to solve without Nagorno-Karabakh’s participation.
