Negotiations on the settlement of Syria can be continued in the format of Astana, SANA reported quoting president of Syria Bashar al-Assad.
“Now it’s too early to judge Astana, the first one was positive because it was about the principles of the unity of Syria, about the Syrians deciding their future. How can you implement this communique? That’s the question, and I think we are going to see Astana 2 and so on,” Assad noted.
The first meeting of joint task force of Russia, Turkey and Iran on Syrian ceasefire regime monitoring took place in Astana on Monday.
During the Astana negotiations on Syrian settlement which took place on January 23-24, guarantor states (Iran, Russia, Turkey) agreed on a trilateral mechanism to monitor a ceasefire regime in Syria.
