It is too early to cancel the sanctions against Russia, since the OSCE agreements are not implemented, and the situation in the eastern Ukraine remains unsatisfactory, the German Chancellor Angela Merkel said during a visit to Warsaw, reports DW. The Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydło supported the position of Berlin.

Merkel also announced, that she had a telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin before the meeting with the Polish authorities and discussed the conflict in Donbas. Against the background of the recent escalation of the situation, the leaders of Germany and Russia have expressed a hope, that the fighting will stop soon.

Berlin and Moscow also agreed on the need for new efforts to maintain the ceasefire. Merkel and Putin urged their foreign ministers to maintain a close relationship on this issue.
