House of Lords requires the US government to guarantee the rights of the EU citizens of staying in the UK after the Brexit, reports BBC.

During the debate around the Brexit bill, which had been supported by the House of Commons, the House of Lords voted in favor of including a new clause that would allow the EU citizens to stay and work Britain after the  Brexit.

358 voted in favor, whereas 256 against it. As a result, it became clear that the bill will be submitted to the House of Commons for consideration.  The British media consider the decision to the House of Lords the first major defeat of Theresa May's government on Brexit path.
