YEREVAN. - The Ministry of Education and Science of Armenia, the Armenian Human Rights Defender’s Office and Kaspersky Lab JSC on Friday signed a memorandum of cooperation in the sphere of education.  The document was signed between the Minister of Education and Science of Armenia, Levon Mkrtchyan, Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan and President of Kaspersky Lab, Yevgeny Kaspesky.

The program aims to ensure protection of children during the use of modern information technologies by them. For this purpose, it is planned to include a new subject in syllabus, which will ensure children’s security and raise the awareness of teachers and parents.

“The modern technologies give wide opportunities and contain big threats,” Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan said after the signing of documents. Among the threats, he noted the games which cause addiction among children and teenagers, bringing them to a dangerous condition. “The parents and teachers should provide necessary and timely help to the child,” Tatoyan said.

In Kaspesky’s words, the cooperation with Armenia is developing in the most diverse directions. “We carry out state protection of state authorities, citizens, and now [also] children,” he said.  Armenia is known for its leading minds but the possibility of realizing them is not always in place, he added, promising to fill in that gap, taking into consideration the ideas of the Armenian colleagues.

“Next time we will come with interesting news,” Kaspesky said.

Minister Levon Mkrtchyan was also positive about the program.
