German parliamentarians have unanimously supported the ban of the referendum campaign undertaken by Turkish politicians in Germany, reports Deutsche Welle. The member of the Christian Democratic Union Wolfgang Bosbach qualified Turks’ arguments about freedom of speech as "distortion of facts".
"Germany is not an outpost of Turkey. The foreign politicians have no right to campaign in Germany," he said. Another member of the Christian Democratic Union Horst Seehofer noted, that Turkish politicians are using the German liberal laws for promoting "anti-democratic reconstruction of their country."
This decision was supported by the Bundestag deputies of Turkish origin Cem Ozdemir and Sevim Dagdelen. Dagdelen noted, that the German government should and can prohibit Erdogan and his ministers to promote restoration of death penalty.
