YEREVAN. - Armenia should participate in regional processes, the representative of Tsarukyan alliance, Ararat Zurabyan, said on Monday at the debate between the parties and alliances participating in the country’s parliamentary elections.

According to him, considering the dynamically developing world, the expression “regional policy” has become obsolete.

In Zurabyan’s words, changes within the country should become a priority. “The system should change and we ourselves should change as well,” Zurabyan noted. He also added that Armenia should participate in regional processes, since the current authorities have no political and economic will to solve that issue.

According to the representative of the Free Democrats alliance, Stepan Safaryan, Yerevan’s policy towards its neighbors should be built on mutual benefits and equality. “This first of all concerns Russia,” he said. Referring to Turkey, Safaryan noted that it is necessary to encourage the contacts between the societies of the two countries.  “The normalization of relations between Ankara and Yerevan must certainly take place without preconditions,” he stressed, noting that Iran is the military and strategic partner of Armenia, which can be used for sowing discord within the tandem of Turkey and Azerbaijan.

Representative of the Progressive United Communist Party of Armenia, Vazgen Safaryan, for his part, noted that the economic cooperation with Iran and Georgia should be deepened and expanded.  “It is necessary to establish joint companies, whose production will be sold in the EAEU countries,”he said.
