YEREVAN. – The Minister of Defense of Armenia, Vigen Sargsyan, was critical towards the activities of international organizations. 

Speaking at a session, entitled “Time of Change: World in the Era of Global Unpredictability,” in capital city Yerevan, the minister commented on a query with respect to the actions by international organizations, especially the UN.

As per Sargsyan, the mechanisms, which were created after World War II, now mostly do not serve the purpose for which they were created, and these actions considerably weaken the UN’s resources. Nevertheless, nothing better has yet been created, noted the defense minister. 

“Armenia is endeavoring to have adequate participation in the processes of the organization,” he added.

Also, Sargsyan reflected on the present-day situation at the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) where, in his view, the processes have entered an incomprehensible course. In this context, he reminded about the situation, during which “a country [i.e. Azerbaijan] keeps the entire organization in tension by not allowing the formation of the budget and by obstructing the work of an [OSCE] office [i.e. in Yerevan].”

Vigen Sargsyan stressed that this organization is weakened by turning a blind eye to such facts.
