Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian received a letter from Sergey Lebedev, Executive Secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), refuting reports spread by the Azerbaijani press.
“I would like to officially inform you that the following statement “We are discussing the liberation of the occupied territories, creating a corridor between Azerbaijan and Nakhichivan, Karabakh and Armenia” quoted by several news agencies is untrue. I would like to assure you of my sincere and constructive stance on close collaboration with the Armenian leadership in the interests of further strengthening of the Commonwealth of Independent States,” the letter reads.
Earlier Trend News agency and a number of other media outlets published words by CIS Executive Secretary allegedly voiced by the official in Baku. “Recently, in Astrakhan, the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan under the mediation of the President of the Russian Federation have agreed to exchange dead bodies of servicemen, and it almost became the first steps for rapprochement of positions. These are small steps, but at the same time, we are discussing the liberation of the occupied territories, creating a corridor between Azerbaijan and Nakhichivan, Karabakh and Armenia.”
