Given a realistic view of the present situation, it is not quite clear how the fundamental issues of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict can be settled within 22 days, with the conflicting parties showing diametrically opposite approaches, the Head of the Commission for European Integration, RA Parliament, member of the Prosperous Armenia Party Naira Zohrabyan told NEWS.am.

“I do not see any grounds for such optimism, even on the part of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. If the Azerbaijani President takes advantage of even the election day in his own country to speak of ‘unsettled issues and insurmountable obstacles’ and revert to militant rhetoric, I consider any progress in the negations over Nagorno-Karabakh most unlikely,” Zohrabyan said. He pointed out that Nagorno-Karabakh’s status is the cornerstone now.

RF President Dmitry Medvedev did not rule out this possibility at the Armenian-Azerbaijani-Russian presidential meeting in Astrakhan, Oct. 27.
