Kosovo's attempts to get accessed into the World Customs Organization contradicts to international law and UN Security Council resolutions, announced Russia’s FM representative Maria Zakharova at a press conference, reports TASS.

"The only international legal basis of Kosovo settlement is the UN Security Council Resolution 1244, which was adopted on 10 June 1999 and which defines that area as a part of Serbia," she said.

Maria Zakharova said, that "there have been agreed only a neutral status of Kosovo, by which delegations of Kosovo may participate in the regional organizations. It implies a reference to the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 and the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice on Kosovo's declaration of independence." In other cases, according to Zakharova, the right of Kosovo to be representative in international institutions belongs exclusively to the UN mission in Kosovo.

" The accession of Kosovo into the World Customs Organization, without taking into account Serbia's position is being promoted under the aegis of the EU, which is a violation of the agreements reached under the United Nations Act, It calls into question the EU's international prestige,” the diplomat said. “According to the World Customs Organization's normative base, it can only accept states into its structure. Russia and many other countries do not recognize Kosovo as a state, and accordingly Russia sees no reason for adopting the documents that ratify Kosovo’s accession. "

Zakharova also noted, that Kosovo’s plans to establish united armed forces is an irresponsible step, which is dangerous for Europe, the Middle East and the entire Europe.
