The reason for Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s new warlike statements is the forthcoming OSCE Summit in Astana, Hrair Karapetyan, the Chairman of the Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs, RA Parliament, and member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D), told NEWS.am.

“It is the Azerbaijani President’s habit to make such provocative statements on the threshold of each meeting with his Armenian counterpart to torpedo the negotiations and blackmail the international community,” Karapetyan said. He pointed out that the Armenian side is well aware of Aliyev’s statements. The ARF member advises against seeing any serious implications behind the Azeri leader’s military threats.

Karapetyan stressed that the international community must make an adequate assessment of Ilham Aliyev’s statements. “Baku is regularly torpedoing the negotiations in defiance of its international commitments,” he said. If the international community fails to respond to Baku’s position, Azerbaijan will go on dishonoring the agreements in future.

The Azerbaijan- leader recently made new warlike statement. According to him, “if the Armenian side goes on torpedoing the negotiations,” Baku will resort to radical measures to “get its lands back.” He stressed that Azerbaijan has done its best to isolate Armenia from the world. “Armenia is geographic deadlock now,” he said.
