Turkish President Abdullah Gul answered the journalists’ questions on Armenia-Turkey rapprochement, while returning from Turkmenistan, Haber10 website reports.

Gul stressed the current “de facto” is in nobody’s interest.

“If bilateral cooperation was an alternative to the process, problems would be solved and doubts dispelled, it would be a good start for economic cooperation. In this regard, my letter has served as such,” Gul said.

As to whether the Turkish President will come forward with a new initiative, Gul said the process is underway. According to him, steps have been taken to solve the problems in the South Caucasus. The Turkish president said he ordered instructions to relevant agencies on the matter. “We are in close contact with Sargsyan, Aliyev, Putin and Medvedev. The problem remains urgent,” Gul said, stressing that the Armenia-Turkey normalization process is not frozen.
