Armenian MPs continued discussions of 2009 Ombudsman’s activities report.

According to the document, about 4,700 people appealed to Ombudsman’s office in 2009. A total of 3,700 applications were submitted. Violated rights of 378 people were restored. Armenian police provoked discontent of the majority of Armenian citizens. Yerevan citizens complained about work of the City Hall, Ministry of Education and Science, courts and Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. However, the report said that Ombudsman’s Office did not face obstacles while getting information from state agencies.

Rafik Petrosyan, Deputy Chairman of Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs, said that the Ombudsman had done hard work. The report should have been presented to the parliamentarians during spring but not autumn session, but Rafik Petrosyan explained it by technical reasons.
