After the terrorist attack in St. Petersburg, fake messages with warnings about terrorist attacks being prepared in Russia are massively disseminated in social networks and WhatsApp, Viber and Telegram messengers “on behalf of the primary sources of the Federal Security Service,” Lenta reports, citing the users who have received such messages.

According to the message, in connection with the actions of Russia in Syria, a series of terrorist attacks are being prepared in large cities of the country, which must be carried out by 18 suicide bombers. Then the populated areas, where the Federal Security Service (FSS) has “beefed up its forces” are mentioned.

The service of the national security agencies and law enforcement authorities has been enhanced, TASS reports. However, the FSS Department of Tatarstan assured on Wednesday that the information in the message does not correspond to reality. “The operational situation in the republic is under control,” the press-service of the department told TASS.
