During his visit to Russia, RA President Serzh Sargsyan participated in celebrations on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Union of Armenians of Russia (UAR) on November 17.
The RA presidential press office informed NEWS.am that President Serzh Sargsyan made a high appraisal of the UAR’s consistent activities and various programs implemented in Armenia. The Armenian leader congratulated the UAR and wished it new achievement to the Armenian people’s benefit.
“We are keeping track of and attaching special attention to your achievements and problems as the world’s largest Armenian community is in Russia. This accounts for the fact that the UAR seeks leadership among the all-Armenian organizations. Among the results of the work consistently carried out for years is that the UAR has become a unique pillar causing Russian Armenians unite round it,” the Armenian President stated in his speech.
President Serzh Sargsyan emphasized the role of the Armenians, who, since Armenia regained its independence, have been sharing the responsibility for both achievements and problems, contributing to the Homeland’s development and strengthening. In this context, President Serzh Sargsyan spoke of the Armenian community in Russia, its history and great potential. “We cannot forget Armenian nationals’ contribution to the development of Armenian-Russian cooperation, particularly to economic cooperation. It is no coincidence that Russia is our strategic partner and reliable partner. It is also no coincidence that Russia is the leader in implementing investment programs in Armenia. This is an example of bilateral cooperation, and the Armenian community in Russia contributes to its development,” President Serzh Sargsyan said. He stressed the task of developing the Armenia-Diaspora ties as well.
President Serzh Sargsyan awarded an Order of Merit to UAR President Ara Abrahamyan for his personal contribution to Armenian-Russian friendship.
