Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was given an official welcome to Azerbaijan, the AzerTaj state news agency reported.

A guard of honor was lined up for the Iranian President at the square decorated with the national flags of the two countries.

Today, Ahmadinejad met with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev.

As NEWS.am reported previously, on November 17, Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived on an official visit to Azerbaijan.

After a meeting with the participation of the delegations, Azerbaijan and Iran signed a memorandum on energy and transport cooperation. The memorandum was signed by Azerbaijani and Iranian Foreign Ministers, Elmar Mammadyarov and Manouchehr Mottaki.

On November 18, Baku will host the summit of the Caspian littoral countries. A security cooperation agreement covering the Caspian Sea is expected to be signed at the summit.
