After its opening Surb Khach church on Akhtamar Island attracts particular interest among businessmen.

According to Milliyet, two Armenian businessmen want to create a resort area opposite the Akhtamar Island and are negotiating with the Chairman of Van’s Trade and Industry Chamber Zahir Kandasoglu.

They have already appealed to Kandasoglu for assistance to their project. Armenian entrepreneurs intend to create a resort area with private houses and a park.

“The guests visiting Akhtamar Island to attend the service did not feel comfortable in the hotels. Here they can both have a rest and take part in service at Surb Khach church,” Kandasoglu said, adding that investors will get tax concessions.
