YEREVAN. - Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan on Wednesday sent a letter of condolence to First Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri of Iran.

“I was deeply concerned to learn about the shooting and explosion that hit the Imam Khomeini Mausoleum and the Iranian Parliament, killing many people and leaving numerous injured.

We strongly condemn terrorism, the fight against which is a common interest. Offering my deep sympathy and condolences to the victims’ families and friends, I wish the injured a speedy recovery,” the letter reads.

Gunmen and suicide bombers on Wednesday carried out attacks on Iran’s parliament and the mausoleum of revolutionary founder Ruhollah Khomeini in capital city Tehran, killing 12 people and injuring over 30 others.

The Islamic State militant group has claimed responsibility for these attacks.
