YEREVAN. - Discussion of any important issues in the Middle East is impossible without the participation of Iran, political scientist Vardan Voskanyan stated on Wednesday.

Referring upon the request of Armenian News – NEWS.am to the terrorist attacks in Iran and responding to the question on the possible masterminds behind them, Voskanyan first noted that although ISIS claimed responsibility and the terrorist attack was organized in the style of that organization, Iran has not yet made an official statement in that regard.  

According to the expert, the Iranian authorities reacted to the situation quite concisely: all the terrorists have been neutralized, one of them not being able to carry out the plan of blowing up the explosive.

As to the goals of the organizers of terrorist attacks in Iran, Voskanyan said they fit well into the “logic” of the processes in the Middle East, which are carried out by an anti-Iran bloc headed by Saudi Arabia. The sanction against Qatar, which didn’t wish to join, became part of them. The organizers might be expecting abrupt steps by Iran. “But Iran always comes up with balanced stance, and I think this time its actions will again be well-thought and far-sighted. Discussion of any important issues in the region, including the fight against terrorism, is impossible without the participation of Iran. I think after these events Iran will get involved in this struggle more actively, this being fraught with serious consequences for the terrorists and their sponsors,” the expert noted.
