Recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh by Armenian is of no benefit, as such a step will not change anything in fact and may bring about a number of complications, Executive Director of British LINKS organization Dennis Sammut stated in an interview with 1news.az.

According to him, Armenia is unlikely to recognize Nagorno-Karabakh. “In any case if Armenia takes such step, it will no way affect the current situation,” Sammut noted.

The expert stressed Azerbaijan clearly gave to understand Karabakh’s status-quo is unacceptable for it and the country will use all means to change it. “Azerbaijan has a number of political, diplomatic, economical and military tools at its disposal. However, I think use of force does not meet Azerbaijan’s interests and it should seek a conflict resolution by other means,” Sammut emphasized.

Referring to the impending OSCE Summit in Astana, the expert stressed a serious discussion on European and Eurasian security may be held. “The summit is of great importance for Caucasus as well, as its enables another opportunity for the Karabakh peace process to advance. There are some low expectations that Armenia and Azerbaijan may achieve agreements on further peace process,” the expert concluded.
