The US Senate on Wednesday approved the bill on new sanctions against Russia. 97 senators voted for the bill, while two of them voted against. According to the document, US President Donald Trump should receive the approval of the Congress before mitigating any sanctions, Reuters reports.

The new package of sanctions was introduced in connection with the meddling of Russia in the 2017 US presidential election. Moscow denies all the accusations.

Earlier, US State Secretary Rex Tillerson urged the Congress not to adopt the new package of sanctions, which will hinder the constructive dialogue between Washington and Moscow.
