Charges are being made against 16 Turkish security guards who attacked peaceful protesters in Washington, Metropolitan Chief of Police Peter Newsham said.

Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser and Police Chief Peter Newsham presented the latest news on arrests and additional charges following the May 16 attacks on peaceful protesters by Erdogan’s security detail, Armenian National Committee of America reported.

Turkish police officers and Turkish-American citizens are involved in the attacks against peaceful protesters on May 16 in front of the Turkish Ambassador's residence, Newsham said.

He also added that nine agents, three Turkish police officers and two Canadians are being sought, AP reported.

“We all saw the violence that was perpetrated against the protesters,” Newsham said. “We're not going to tolerate this.”

Earlier on Wednesday US Marshals arrested two Turkish men living in US for their role in beating peaceful protesters outside of the Turkish embassy in Washington, D.C. last month.
