A 43-year-old Armenian man tried to plow his car into people outside a Paris mosque Thursday in a reported effort to “avenge” recent terrorist attacks in the city, but he rammed the vehicle into barriers designed to protect worshippers, according to local reports.
No one was injured, police said.
The driver fled the scene, but later, police detained him.
The man is currently under psychological supervision.
It is noted that he was convicted previously for minor offenses.
The man was not under the influence when he tried to plow the car into people.
