YEREVAN. - It is planned to hold an exhibition of Armenian jewelry in Tashkent, Uzbekistan by the end of 2017, specialist of the city department of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Rustambek Baratov told Armenian News – NEWS.am.

The delegation arrived at the jewelry market of Yerevan along with the buying agents from a number of other countries.

Currently, the Armenian golden jewelry is imported to Azerbaijan via Istanbul, a large transit point. The delegation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan on Friday visited the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of Armenia, where it discussed the possibility of direct supplies (and also possibly direct flight between Yerevan and Tahskent).

“The first step is the approval. I think, everything will then be organized properly. We intend to develop the cooperation with Armenia in different spheres. This may become our first joint step,” Baratov stated.

People in Uzbekistan don’t have firsthand knowledge about the Armenian jewelers: There are many jeweler masters among local Armenians, who have their own factories. “Thus, there is a ground for cooperation. Now our task is to build new success on it,” Baratov added.
