The German Federal Foreign Office has warned its citizens to be careful when visiting Turkey, considering the recent detentions and refusal of Ankara to provide consular access in certain cases, Reuters reports.

“The people visiting Turkey for private and business purposes are compellingly recommended to exercise caution. They should register in German consulates and Embassy even in case of short-term visits. The Federal Foreign Office does not always duly inform about the detention of German nationals and the access to consular services is not ensured,” the German MFA noted.
