Construction works and their negative impact on environment were discussed at the session of the Public Council. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan was also present at the meeting.
Karine Danielyan, council member and former Nature Protection Minister, told the journalists these issues were raised during Serzh Sargsyan’s presidential campaign. “He promised that many things will change. In fact, landscaping and cleaning works are presently carried out in the city. Nevertheless, there are certain problems, there is an infill in Yerevan that can lead to negative impact on ecology and further development of the city. President promised to solve these problems. He considered our proposal to set up a special commission engaged in this issue inexpedient, but promised to consider existing problems,” she said.
