Armenia needs power of new quality through a change of power. There is no other way, Armen Rustamyan, an Executive Board member, Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF), told journalists December 8.

The incumbent authorities must go away, but it is not enough.

“Armenia needs a radical change in the system rather than new persons. A radical change of power needs a number of priorities,” Rustamyan said. He listed them as follows:

1.Eradicating a power reproduction system and forming a power election system
2.Forming an environment for democracy
3.Deconcentration of power
4.Liquidating privilege of parliament and forming a MP recall system.

The presidential system has proved is poses serious risks for Armenia. So the country needs a parliamentary government.

“The main issue in Armenia is how to come to power. The country needs a movement to defend the right of choice. The people must come to realize the right of choice is the most important for them. Power must belong to people, rather than to cliques,” Rustamyan said.
