On December 9, Foreign and Defense Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) approved the document on the activities of collective peacekeeping forces of the organization, stated Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, RIA Novosti reports.

“We agreed on all issues, including on the package of documents, pursuant to the instructions, issued at the informal meeting of the CSTO Heads of State in August, Yerevan,” he said.

Lavrov stressed the importance of the changes in the regulations to increase the efficiency of the organization in emergency response.

“The draft declaration on the cooperation in the international arena was approved. This is a direct contribution to the activities of our organization in the direction of foreign policy coordination,” he noted.

"The third document refers to collective peacekeeping forces. It indicates not only our readiness to carry out peacekeeping tasks, but also CSTO member states’ readiness to provide these forces for peacekeeping operations, conducted by the decision of UN Security Council,” Lavrov stressed.
