Armenia is regional cyber-security leader, Richard Giragosian, Head of the Armenian Center for National and International Studies (ACNIS), told NEWS.am. Armenia has joined the European cyber-security convention, which promotes IT development. Without cyber security IT development in Armenia is nothing but a dream, he said.

Cyber-security is an integral component of Armenia’s national security, which is Armenia’s advantage over Azerbaijan and other neighbors.

Armenia is a target of cyber-crimes. Turkish and Azeri hackers often attack Armenian government websites, as well as the websites of Armenia’s organizations. In this context Armenia attaches importance to cyber-security, Giragosian said. 

Cyberspace is a field of battle, and effective defense is a requirement for confidence in e-commerce, on-line banking services and foreign investments.

Armenia must exert more efforts to protect its fiber-optic channels, as, “I say again, without cyber-security IT development is nothing but a dream.”
