English American writers of Armenian origin have a larger opportunity to integrate with the cultural life of the United States due to the Armenian Genocide issue, editor of “Ararat” quarterly magazine (USA) Ararat Arkun stated in an interview with RFE/RL.

According to him, people in U.S. are ready to touch upon the genocide issue and several Armenian writers enjoyed this in the good sense of this word. He recalled the Armenian Genocide is one of those the Armenian society is familiar with. “Unfortunately, many genocides

are perpetrated in various countries, let it be Rwanda or former Yugoslavia,” Arkun said.

He stressed within the recent 20 years, Armenian Genocide issue has been of great interest and become topical in U.S. In this regard, writers of Armenian origin, such as Peter Suryan, Peter Balakyan and Peter Nazaryan present a series of novels, short stories about the Armenian Genocide.
