The Head of Republican parliamentary group Galust Sahakyan commented on recent racist attacks in Moscow under the slogan “Russia for Russians” and clashes between the authorities and Caucasians.
“All these attacks only damage Russia itself,” the parliamentarian stressed.
The MP expressed confidence the Russian authorities also have a negative stance on these attacks.
“They are taking the necessary measures,” Sahakyan said, stressing fascist sentiments in Russia are simply unacceptable.
As NEWS.am reported previously, on December 11, an action in commemoration of a football fan Yegor Sviridov (allegedly killed by Daghestanis in a mass brawl in Kronstadt Boulevard, Dec. 6) developed into brutal violence.
The situation has remained strained in the city since December 11.
The police detained sixty-five people for offering resistance in Manege Square. However, they were released the following day.
On December 11, 40 people fell victim to racist attacks. Nationalists attacked ethnic Caucasians and Asians on December 12 and 13.
Two 15-year-old Armenians were injured in the Dec. 11 clashes in Manege Square of Moscow.
A 16-year-old Armenian, citizen of Russia, was attacked in the city of Krasnodar (south of Russia) on December 13. He was taken to hospital with 12 knife injuries.
