On December 16, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian left for Spain.

Nalbandian met with his Spanish counterpart Trinidad Jimenez Garcia-Herrera, RA Foreign Office press service informed NEWS.am.

“The establishment of the Armenian Embassy in Madrid is indicative of the development of bilateral relations between the two countries,” Nalbandian stressed.

The officials discussed Armenia-EU relations and steps to be taken to develop bilateral cooperation within “European Neighborhood” and “Eastern Partnership” projects.

The sides also touched upon the steps towards the facilitation of EU visa requirements and referred to the development of cultural and tourism cooperation.

The ministers agreed to draft several agreements, particularly on promotion of investments, as well as defense and economic documents.

Nalbandian and Trinidad Jimenez Garcia attached significance to mutual visits and business forums. They agreed the direct flights between the two states will give new impetus to bilateral relations. In this regard, the sides made an arrangement to sign agreements “On air communication” to encourage aircarriers to carry out flights and “On exempt of double taxation between Armenia and Spain”.

Spanish Foreign Minister accepted Nalbadian’s invitation to visit Yerevan in 2011.

The same day Edward Nalbandian visited Spanish Parliament and met with the representatives of different political forces.

Armenian FM also visited RA Embassy in Madrid and held meetings with representatives of Spanish Armenian organizations. He presented them Armenia’s foreign policy and answered their questions.
