Incumbent Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko won a landslide victory in Dec.19 presidential elections amid accusations of vote rigging and mass arrests, RIA Novosti reports.

With 100% of the ballots counted, the Central Election Commission (CEC) said citing preliminary results: Lukashenko gained 79.67%, winning a fourth term; his closest rival, opposition candidate Andrei Sannikov, received 2.56% of the votes. According to CEC head Lidiya Yermoshina, 6.47% voted against all candidates.

The remaining eight runners had 0.48% to 1.97%: Vladimir Neklyaev-1.7%,  Jaroslav Romanchuk and Grigory Kostusev-1.97% each, Vitaly Rymashevsky-1.1%, Victor Tereshenko-1.08%, Nikolai Statkevich-1.04%, Ales Michalevic-1.2% and Dmitry Uss-0.48%.

As NEWS.am reported previously, mass demonstrations were held after the elections in Minsk. About ten thousand people flocked to the central square of Minsk, angry at Alexander Lukashenko’s overwhelming victory - his fourth in a row.
