The recent statements by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan are quite objective. However, it causes doubts whether adequate steps will be taken following these statements, Armen Rustamyan, Chairman of RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, ARF-D Supreme Council Chair told NEWS.am.

According to him, President’s critical statements are not followed by steps eliminating the existing defects.

“This is a major problem. Concrete steps should be taken in this direction, for these statements not only remin President’s standpoints on the country’s current situation. If significant moves were made following President’s address, Armenia would be in a better situation," Rustamyan stressed.

“For instance, in his speech Armenian President considered unacceptable officials’ procession of bodyguards that can be observed in our country, stressing bodyguards may be present only in the cases stipulated by the law. Meanwhile, several years ago Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun (ARFD) submitted a draft bill on security service, however the document was and has so far been rejected by the parliamentary majority and the government.

As NEWS.am reported previously, in his speech on the occasion of 20th anniversary of Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan sharply criticized negative developments in the country and stressed the necessity for critical steps to be taken in these directions.
