President of Kurdistan Massoud Barzani received Georgian Ambassador to Iraq Zurab Eristavi to discuss development of bilateral relations and cooperation between Georgia and Kurdistan in tourism, agriculture and banking sector.
Georgian diplomat stressed that about 30,000 Kurds reside in Georgia and are actively working to contribute to development of cultural and business ties with Kurdistan. He noted that up to 2,000 Georgians are working in the cities of Arbil, Silemani and Duhok.
According to him, Georgia is considering appointment of Honorary Consul to Arbil. As soon as Georgia opens embassy in Baghdad, country’s general consulate will open in Arbil as well.
President Barzani welcomed Ambassador’s interest in development of ties with Kurdistan, adding that there are many cooperation opportunities for the countries, Kurdistan.ru reported.
