The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is for cooperation with NATO in fighting terrorism, WMD proliferation and drug trafficking, as well as in eliminating the aftermath of natural and man-caused disasters, CSTO Secretary General Nikolay Bordyuzha stated in Russian Parliament Dec. 21.

“NATO is expanding toward the CSTO west European borders, which arouses our concern. An arms races, growing tension and mistrust are threatening us,” Bordyuzha said.

As regard the situation in the South Caucasus, he pointed out that the Georgian leadership’s policy of “anti-Russian hysteria and developing military potential with the leading western powers’ assistance” does not at all facilitate stabilization. The CSTO Secretary General also expressed concern over steeply increasing military budget of Azerbaijan.
