Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan held discussions with the French President Emmanuel Macronto discuss Washington's decision to move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, thus recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. This is reported by TASS with reference to NTV television channel.

According to NTV, in a telephone conversation with Macron, Erdogan said that the protection of the historical status of Jerusalem is an obligation of all mankind. The parties also agreed to work together to convince the U.S. to reconsider its decision.

The Turkish leader also held discussions on the same topic with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, head of the Kazakh state Nursultan Nazarbayev and Lebanese leader Michel Aoun.
