The domestic political situation was eventful in December, as Serzh Sargsyan touched upon domestic problems after dealing with foreign policy, Samvel Nikoyan, Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, told journalists today.
“If one attentively follows the President’s activities he will see he had no such opportunity after 2008. Now he has a better good perspective. After extremely tense foreign political work he came to grips with domestic problems. The indication of this is the speech he delivered at an event dedicated to 20th anniversary of the Republican Party,” Nikoyan said.
“We have struggled for domestic political stability in our country and now we should move from stability to development,” the Vice Speaker said, quoting the President’s word at a press conference.
“The first problem the country is faced with is corruption. We know that certain post-Soviet states have eliminated corruption and we should follow their lead,” he noted.
Speaking at the event dedicated to 20th anniversary of the Republican Party, President Sargsyan called corruption and bribery Armenia’s biggest problems.
