“They were wrong when they said what they said,” RA Minister of Transport Manuk Vardanyan said, speaking of the reports by the Control Service, RA Ministry of Finance.

NEWS.am reminds readers that at a December 17 news conference Sona Gharibyan, Head of the Internal Audit and Financial Control Department, RA Ministry of Finance, informed journalists of the results of inspections of Armenia’s transport system.

According to the report, the RA Ministry of Transport and Communication does not exercise proper supervision over the road construction work under the Millennium Challenge program. The ministry also financed “unrealistic work” under the Alidzor-Tatev highway construction project.

As regards the Alidzor-Tatev highway, Minister Vardnayan said that it has not yet issued an acceptance report due to the inspections. The construction was completed on October 15. “The work in Alidzor lasted for three months, but they must have counted the last 25 days,” Vardanyan said ironically.

Before making a public statement, the RA Ministry of Finance should have consulted with the Ministry of Transport and Communication.
