The recent protests in Iran are a result of the dire economic situation in the country.
Karen Khanlarian, an Armenian member of the Iranian parliament, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.
He noted that this bad economic situation in Iran is caused by the sanctions that are imposed on the country by the superpowers, which pursue several objectives.
In the Armenian MP’s words, contrary to the positive disposition of Europe, the US has serious intentions to continue these sanctions, and it even attempts to intensify them further.
As per Khanlarian, in this way, an attempt is made also to weaken Iran’s role in the region.
“Also, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan are trying to weaken Iran’s role in the region, and that’s why the sanctions continue,” he said. “They are diminishing Iran in the economic, commercial sectors.”
