The most significant achievement of 2010 for Armenia was sustainable peace, Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Samvel Nikoyan told NEWS.am.

“It may seem strange, but those involved in politics will understand what I mean. We had a great tug to achieve peace. “These achievements enabled country’s leadership to finally draw attention to domestic problems, extermination of negative phenomena deeply rooted in the republic – corruption, bribery and ineffective spending of budgetary funds,” Nikoyan said, stressing that results of struggle against negative phenomena will be tangible next year.

He also noted that negative developments are a result of belated struggle. The most significant point is country’s leadership realizes the neglects exist. The fact that Serzh Sargsyan admitted that certain post-Soviet states surpassed Armenia in struggling these phenomena is a very positive signal, he added.
