Promotion of “Eastern Partnership” project is one of the most important trends in foreign policy of Hungarian presidency of the EU, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated.
According to him, the success of “Eastern Partnership” can significantly strengthen the European community. If EU wants to be successful in the global arena, it should be successful at home as well, he noted.
“Hungary will organize the Summit of Eastern Partnership in Budapest in May. During preparations for the EU presidency, I held consultations all over Europe, met with all the prime ministers of EU states and held talks with leaders of countries, involved in the “Eastern Partnership” project, as well as with several heads of governments in the Balkan region,” Orban said.
According to him, all the EU states and the countries of the European Neighborhood are interested in strong Europe, as it is a source of support and resource for all nations.
We will do our utmost to improve the prosperity of the European community and achieve success in the “Europe 2020” strategy, the official stressed.
Hungary took over the rotating EU presidency from Belgium in the first half of 2011 on January 6.
Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus are involved in the “European Partnership” project.
